A preliminary score report is provided when each test taker completes an online knowledge-based assessment. The preliminary total score will be displayed in the Client Services Center (CSC).

If the "display scores" option was selected at the time your order was placed, each test taker will see their scores at the completion of the online knowledge-based written assessment. If this option was selected, the test taker will also be able to print a copy of their preliminary score or email a copy to their email address.

Creating groups and releasing user codes are important steps in the official score reporting process. Groups determine how test takers appear on score reports. Releasing user codes submits completed assessments for official score processing.

Creating Groups
The Manage Groups feature in the CSC allows Coordinators to organize test takers into reporting groups before official score processing begins.

By default, score reports are grouped by:
  • The actual test administration date
  • The first session start date for multi-session tests
Creating groups allows sites to organize score reports in a way that reflects their instructional structure and reporting needs. Grouping decisions must be made before user codes are released because they determine how score reports are generated.

Releasing Scores for Processing
Once all required assessment components are complete, the Coordinator releases user codes through the CSC to begin official score processing. Required components may include knowledge-based written testing, skill-based performance ratings, if applicable, and any required demographics or administration steps.

In most cases, Coordinators must manually release user codes. In some scenarios, the system may release codes automatically. When this occurs, no additional action is required.

For assessments that include skill-based performance scoring, all ratings must be entered accurately and completely for each test taker before user codes are released.

Official score reporting does not begin until user codes have been released.

Important Notes:
  • Grouping decisions must be made before user codes are released.
  • Preliminary reports are not saved. Download or print preliminary reports before releasing scores if they are needed for local records.
  • Once user codes are released, completed assessments are processed through NOCTI's scoring system to generate official score reports.
Visit Releasing User Codes for Official Scoring for additional information about releasing user codes.
