Measuring occupational competence requires
the evaluation of many different
characteristics, factors, and/or
qualifications for the occupation. The
choice of using the knowledge-based and/or
the skill-based assessment is influenced
by what the assessment is to measure and
the circumstances and conditions under
which it will be administered. The
assessment used in a given situation
depends on a number of factors such as
the:
- Nature of the occupation
- Intended use of the test results
- Range of skills and information to be
evaluated
NOCTI credentials are commonly
used to:
- Measure gains through pre- and
post-assessment
- Maximize learner achievement
- Measure the quality of educational and
training programs
- Assess the competency level of
learners who complete a program of
study
- Apply for credit or advanced standing
in occupational programs
- Satisfy state and federal legislative
requirements
NOCTI
Credentials
NOCTI's standardized
assessments
measure the skills of learners who
complete a technical training program.
Most credentials consist of both
knowledge-based and skill-based
components
which can be administered together or
independently. These credentials are
ideal
for a variety of program types: two to
three years in length with a
comprehensive
focus on occupational skills, one to
two
years in length, one semester to one
year
in length, and can be used across
multiple
occupational areas.
Certificate and Partner
Assessments
NOCTI partners with several
professional associations offering a
variety of credentials for learners of
any
level.
