Teacher testing sites must go through a formal approval process before becoming an approved Area Test Center. An application must be completed which outlines the qualifications for Area Test Centers and Area Test Center Coordinators. The Area Test Center Coordinator must be approved by the State Director of Career and Technical Education within the state.
The Area Test Center must:
- Have suitable facilities (computer labs, classrooms, shops or laboratories) for test administration
- Designate a Center Coordinator
- Be geographically located so as to be easily reached by potential candidates and proctors/evaluators
- Be able to obtain satellite facilities whenever necessary
- Able to arrange for satellite facilities as necessary to assist with candidate location and logistic consideration
- Willing to serve the entire state or a specific region of the state (when there are multiple centers)
The Area Test Center Coordinator must:
- Stay current with the state's rules for career and technical education teacher preparation and certification
- Have the support of their educational institution along with resources and support staff necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the Area Test Center
- Agree to abide by the NOCTI Security Policy an Area Test Center guidelines for test administration
- Have the appropriate connections/contacts to vet and secure qualified proctors/evaluators according to NOCTI policy guidelines
- Participate in periodic NOCTI-sponsored webinars and/or workshops
The Area Test Center Coordinator is appointed for the overall promotion, guidance, monitoring, and facilitation of the testing program. All ATC Coordinators must adhere to the policies and procedures set forth by NOCTI.
